Up-down reading method Teaching procedures Step Ⅰkey vocabulary Say the words and have students repeat several times until they can pronounce them fluently and accurately. Step Ⅱ section 1 1b focus students’ attention on the words in the box. Find out which words the students know already. Point out the part of speech. Ask students to work in pairs to look up the other words in a dictionary. Ask them to take note if there in more than one meaning. Step Ⅲ Section 2 While you read Ask students to read and mark the words they have just looked up in the dictionary. As they read, ask students to raise their hand each time they come across a word ( Step ⅣAfter reading Ask some students to read out key sentences they have found or created 3b ask students to make sentences using the words. Ask if any students have had the experience of dealing with a real problem in one of the ways suggested in the reading. | ||||
Step Ⅴ section 4 Go for it Write on the board the three ways of dealing with a problem mentioned in the reading. Ask the students to write about an experience with a problem they have had or one that they have heard a class member talk about. Ask a few students to read their writing aloud. Step Ⅵ summary This class provides us with a lot of reading as well as writing practice. And we know how to deal with out problems positively.
